Secrets Spilled By PR Power Crew

When the drapes came off the new 46-foot Mercedes AMG-inspired Cigarette Racing Team’s SLS in Miami, certain colleagues at PR Power learned that “information had been withheld” during the planning process and some Mercury personnel were surprised to find an additional 50 h.p. extra per engine (that’s 1,350 h.p. each) than those displayed at the company’s booth.
Marilyn DeMartini of PR Power had to sign a confidentiality agreement when she learned the news of her client; she couldn’t share the news with teammate Tony Esposito, whose former marketing background with Mercury precluded any “inside” information.
The car doesn’t have an MSRP yet, the Mercury Racing engines won’t be available for sale until September (ballpark cost $400,000), and Cigarette is trying to determine a price on the
boat.
“The message of the evening was simply that two great luxury brands decided to collaborate because they shared a heritage in racing, a commitment to excellence and to performance,” says DeMartini. “It was hectic and strategic and unusual to announce news in this setting, but it was definitely worth it!”
